Our Story

In the late 80’s our owner Frank worked near The Old Fulton Fish Market downtown by the seaport for another seafood company as a delivery person. For over a decade he slowly learned the ins and outs of the seafood trade.

During this time food was scarce for Frank and his family. Even though seafood was always regarded as a delicacy, on special occasions Frank would bring home seafood from work. When the company he worked for closed down, Frank decided he wanted to make seafood affordable to everyone and opened Ocean Source in 1997. From the local firefighters and sanitation workers who regularly stopped to the mom-and-pop restaurant.

Frank’s son Stan later boarded ship. A first generation American – exposed to all the culture in the city. Surrounded by seafood most of his life, he wanted to diversify the customer base to reflect the richness of the city. Today we work with a variety of different customers. Our customers range from Caribbean to Mediterranean, from Mediterranean to Asian, from Asian to American, and everything in between.

With over 25 years in the business, we have come to partner with some of the world’s leading importers of seafood. Which allows us to continue Frank’s original mission of passing down  unparalleled value to our customers.

The operation is still very much operated by the family who closely monitors the sourcing of the products. From the sea to your table, each step along the way is handled with the same level of attentiveness and detail. Continuing to curate lasting relationships with chefs and independent restaurant owners.
